The name HADRON is a reference to a composite sub-atomic particle within quantum mechanics.
The artist was fascinated by the on-going discovery of new sub-atomic particles, which evoked in him associations with the so-called cosmic dance. The reality of nature as we know it, is preceded (borne) by a pillar of creative energy, within which physicists can detect individual particles in the ever-changing form of a wave or a particle.
The HADRON, as represented here by Zeno of Amsterdam in the form of a Star, is the consummate bearer of the Light. The inscriptions on the front and back of this Monad are equivalently shaped – this means that there is no specific front or back. In the photograph the horizontal line is visibly extended on the front; this is extrapolated as a vertical line on the rear face. The disc is made of alabaster with a maximum thickness of 2 cm and therefore light shines through it.
